Nissan India-sales up 149 percent

Nissan India has reported a staggering 149 percent increase in its sales in the month of November 2011.
The Japanese car manufacturer says that this major sales growth was driven by the recently launched Sunny saloon which accounted for 1131 units of the figure for November and has already achieved sales of more than 3130 units since its launch in September.
Nissan’s other offerings like the Micra hatchback accounted for 1514 unit sales in November, which is a 47 percent increase compared to the same period in 2010. The X-Trail SUV, Teana saloon and 370Z sportscar comprised the remaining sales.
Mr Kiminobu Tokuyama, Managing Director of Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. said, “Achieving this level of sales performance in the current difficult market conditions in India reflects Nissan’s growing popularity in the Indian market. The locally manufactured Sunny and Micra give a great impetus to our continued growth in India, and we are confident of accelerating this journey much faster in the coming months.”
Mr Dinesh Jain Chief Executive Officer, Hover Automotive India (HAI), Nissan’s sales and marketing partner in India, said, “Acceptance of Nissan models by customers in the most turbulent of economic conditions shows that customers’ preference towards the Nissan brand is growing day by day.”
