The new Dzire compact saloon is some how different from the old car . Of 3995mm, it is 165mm shorter than the existing one. This is resulted in an very short boot, & a more notchback which look as opposed to a proper saloon. The boot space is of 316 litres & is a whole size down on the old saloon, but it is large enough to hold weekend luggage.

The engines are taken from the new Swift & it means that the Dzire will be powered by 86bhp, 1.2-litre petrol & 74bhp, 1.3 litre diesel motors. The K Series petrol engine is benefited from "Variable Valve Timing" & this has resulted in a 2bhp power bumps as compared to the old car. The 1.3 litre DDiS motor remains same.

On the front looks, the new Dzire is tweaked styling for differentiating it from new Swift. The front is having a slatted grille but the bumper is wider air dam  & larger enclosures for the fog lights. In the rear, the quarter glass is more conventional fall to it & the rear door is very larger as well. The cabin is designed identical to the new Swift’s, because the use of beige plastics on the lower portion of the dashboard, the door pads & the light seat fabrics really enhanced the ambience inside the car.

Maruti has started on the same path as it did for Old Zen. Kill a popular car is Maruti's old habit. With the boot lost in this model, and lacking the flexibility of folding rear seats of Swift. I think this is one car taken out just for the heck of taking out a new model. The suicide part comes from discontinuing the old DZire rather than leaving the choice to the customer. Who does market research for Maruti, May god grant them some common sense.
